The Project

…somewhere between love and death we find ourselves in empty spaces, losing control…

Throughout 2008, Fiona Sprott and Jason Sweeney created a series of explicit confessional texts, micro-films, blog entries and sonic responses that expose the artists’ failures at intimacies, confronting moments of fear, sacrifice, desire and pain – constructed or otherwise.

With in-progress live performance ‘reports’, screenings, installations, texts and sound works, some dangerous admissions emerged and the line between private versus public information was potentially crossed…

Jason Sweeney and Fiona Sprott have been working together as writer/researchers, performance-makers and media-making artists since 1993. They have always maintained a commitment to flexible performance and ‘public’ outcomes for their work, and as such, this project will deliberately set out to create a mess of ideas, an overload of performative and artistic provocations, textual, sonic and visual excess, which are all anchored in the ways in which we tell our stories to others, and develop intimacy in an era of globalisation.
